Board Members and Hearing Officers

Board Members

    The Board of Claims is composed of five members who are appointed by the governor for four-year terms in accordance with KRS 44.070(2)(3). A member of the board is chosen by the governor to serve as chairman for a term of four years. The board meets once each month, usually on the third Thursday of the month.

    Hearing officers are appointed by the governor. Each hearing officer must be an attorney licensed to practice law in Kentucky and shall have practiced law for at least three years, in accordance with KRS 44.070 (6). Upon direction of the chairman or the board, these hearing officers conduct hearings and otherwise supervise the presentation of evidence. They shall not render final decisions, orders or awards, but shall make recommendations to the board.
